June in Bozeman

Bozeman, June is here, and there is absolutely no easing into it this year. We're talking a stadium concert, farmers markets firing back up, whitewater on the Gallatin, and long golden evenings that make you want to just sit outside and soak it all in. Summer in Big Sky Country hits different — and June is where it all kicks off.

Here's what's happening this month.

The Biggest Show of the Year — Mumford & Sons at Bobcat Stadium

Let's start with the headline. Mumford & Sons are taking over Bobcat Stadium on June 4, bringing their anthemic, foot-stomping sound to one of the state's most unique venues — and they'll be joined by special guest Sierra Ferrell. This is the second date on their Prizefighter Tour, which kicks off June 2 in Vancouver — so Bozeman is basically getting them fresh out of the gate. If you don't have tickets yet, go get them now. This one is going to be special.

Live Music at The ELM + More

Beyond the stadium show, June keeps the live music rolling strong. Iration plays The ELM on June 16 — a reggae-rock outfit known for their feel-good summer vibes. The ELM continues to be one of the best small-to-mid-size venues in the region, and their June calendar is stacked. Check theelmmt.com for the full lineup.

The Montana Festival also brings something a little different to the mix — it's an annual gathering of entrepreneurs, creators, and community builders happening June 11–12 at the Emerson Theater in downtown Bozeman, celebrating big ideas and shaping Montana's future. Part networking, part inspiration, part great energy downtown. Worth checking out.

Farmers Markets Are Back — Finally

This is the moment Bozeman has been waiting for. The Bozeman Farmers Market kicks off Tuesdays starting June 16 at Lindley Park, running 5–8 p.m. through September 8. The Gallatin Valley Farmers Market starts Saturdays on June 14 at the Gallatin County Fairgrounds, running 9 a.m. to noon through September 19. Fresh produce, local vendors, food trucks, live music, and the best people-watching in town. Make it a weekly ritual.

Get Out There — June Outdoor Highlights

June is prime time for just about everything outdoors in the Bozeman area. Trails at all elevations are open, wildflowers are in full bloom, and the rivers are absolutely cooking.

The Gallatin Whitewater Festival hits on June 27 — a beloved annual event celebrating the Gallatin River with kayaking, paddling demos, and a whole lot of community spirit. Whether you're a paddler or just a spectator, it's a great day out.

The Art Walk also kicks off this month — starting June 13, downtown galleries and shops stay open on the second Friday of each month from 6–8 p.m., with featured artists, hors d'oeuvres, and the great energy of Main Street on a summer evening. It's free, it's fun, and it runs all the way through September.

June Outdoor Tips:

  • Hyalite Canyon is stunning right now — great for hiking, paddle boarding on the reservoir, and stargazing
  • Fly fishing season is in full swing on the Gallatin and Madison — water temps are ideal
  • Yellowstone is open and wildlife viewing is excellent this time of year, especially early morning
  • Sunsets from Peets Hill are some of the best you'll see all year — bring a blanket and a cold drink

Shakespeare in the Park — Free and Fantastic

One of Bozeman's most beloved summer traditions is back. Montana Shakespeare in the Park has been bringing free, live, professional productions since 1973, and this year they're performing at the Montana State University Duck Pond starting June 11, running through June 21. It doesn't get more Bozeman than Shakespeare under the open sky. Bring a lawn chair, bring the family, and enjoy.

June in Bozeman is the kind of month that reminds you exactly why you live here. Get outside, get to the market, get to the shows — and soak up every single long, sunny evening.

Until next time, Greg
